This image was taken in October after the first snow of the season in
the high mountains of the Sawtooths. I have always found the first
snow on the peaks evokes a wonderful feeling and is often more
beautiful than later in the winter with a complete covering of snow.
Much to my surprise, as I took this picture there were bats flying
low over the lake. With the temperature well below freezing, I would
not think there would be any flying insects at all?
