I think this image deserves a bit of an explanation? It is derived from
two separate medium format slides digitally manipulated and combined.
My home in the mountains of Idaho is surrounded by pine trees, and when
I have a long stretch of rain the moss that forms on dead tree branches
becomes super-saturated and glows an iridescent yellow. I took the photograph
of this scene from my front deck with a telephoto lens, emphasizing a set
of dead branches with moss and an interesting 'look'. I digitally masked
out and desaturated and toned down everything except the branch and moss.
Still, my interpretation felt like it was missing something. Finally, I
took the sky and clouds from a scanned slide of sky in Utah and blended
it with the background.
I guess that from time to time, I just like to 'play' ... experiment.
